ROBERT CRAY live at GLASGOW ABC

I had the pleasure of seeing Robert Cray at the Barrowlands so long ago i cant even recall the decade , yet alone the year.He performed a blistering set with the Miami Horns.

Many years , and dozens of awards , later Robert still has the look of youth and a sweet honeysuckle fresh voice to match. The only thing that has matured is his songwording skills and extraordinary miraculous finger-picking guitar playing skills.

He never sang any of the songs that were hits from the time i remember , only confirming the vast quality archive he has built over time.

Here is a excellent recording from the concert of my favourite song of the night where is guitar-playing , voice and songwriting are fused brilliantly.

THE (former) HUNS ARE DEED

The Huns ceased to exist on 12th June 2012.

This from Reporting Scotland

There is a quandry what to call the unholy ghost of the corpse of the former bigoted club.To call them anything would be confer on them a status they dont deserve,or have.Former player Naismith referred to the non-existent entity as Sevco , as he walked away.

This event has clearly been hard felt by bigot bitter-enders , this is how they are feeling whenever the inevitible more bad news comes their way:

Bigoted bitter-enders are comparing the plight to the holocaust as this FF testifies:

Well said, I have just received my non Sponsored Rangers shirt , wearing it now it feels like a ' Yellow Star ' . What next cattle trucks , sad to say they are some that would gladly see them, if they could get away with it .

Alas Sevco legal experts will notice the writing on the Wall from Godwins Law:

"A term that originated on Usenet, Godwin's Law states that as an online argument grows longer and more heated, it becomes increasingly likely that somebody will bring up Adolf Hitler or the Nazis. When such an event occurs, the person guilty of invoking Godwin's Law has effectively forfeited the argument."

Former-Rangers youth star Rhys McCabe (a.k.a. who?) has taken the senoirs advice and also jumped ship.

This is a pic taken in the good old days ( two weeks ago) with the young starlet posing with Craig Whyte...then The Bloo Nights ( remember them) leader of the Million Hun March Sandy Jardine posing with the Walk Away Cup.

Sevcos have clearly taken the news well:

Below is a story in pictures of the Former Huns in the last few days:

Coming the Hour , cometh the only kind of saviour Rangers could produce , it was never quite clear , to anyone , if he spoke for The Huns Peeples Front or The Peeples Front of Huns.

Here is what Tam Cowan thought of him.

And Sevco Owner Charles Green is coming across better than ever as he wins the respect of previously unconvinced Scottish Football fans:

Alasdair Lamont ‏@BBCAlLamont

Green adds: "It's not right that every two weeks a Mel Gibson appears, delivers a Braveheart statement, then doesn't deliver anything."

MACBETH at the TRAMWAY

Macbeth played by just one man , how is that going to work? , how will he play the three witches at the same time.

It works perfectly and the witches are , initially , played by some apt atmospheric music.

Playing all the roles brings an even more intense;deep;meaningful significance to the play , rather like how songs become more profound if done in an acoustic guitar and voice only format.

This way of portraying the play makes the impression of the utter rational failure of the bloody purpose from the very beginning more significant , therefore the tragedy is apparent from the very first action.

This review from The Herald grabs the appeal of this staging very well.

You can see a trailer of this sell out run which is going to Broadway is the video below:

The video review below also captures the experience even though the reviewer does let himself get carried away.

SUZANNE VEGA live at ORAN MOR

Suzanne Vega was on sublime form today as she gave a performance of old and young material. The last time i saw her she was accompanied by a large bass , this time she had an electric guitarist making fine jingle-jangles and sweet sharp melodic riffs to give her songs an extra magical appeal.

Here she is performing "Small Blue Thing"

And the evergreen slendour that is Luka ( not based on a true story, no kids were hurt during the composition and performing of this song)

My favourite of hers called Gypsy

FOOTFALLS by SAMUEL BECKETT at the CITIZENS THEATRE GLASGOW

"It All" was a title Beckett thought of using for this play.Along with the many Themes associated with the playwright a strong one in this performance is one of perennial unresolved issues that never quite leave no matter how you try and always come back to haunt when inner peace and tranquility are on the seeming cusp.

Can one , and how done one lay the Ghosts of the past , and if they do not will the same recurring theme always prevent harmony and happiness.

Music and Communication are ever-present in this play like a metronome and the semblance trace of conversation between Daughter and Mother.

The message of the play is that you have to be truly Alive in all senses of the word before you can conquer a deadened sad Heart and replace it with Happiness.

KRAPPS LAST STAND by SAMUEL BECKETT at the CITIZENS THEATRE GLASGOW

This classic minimalist play has all the Beckett themes of loneliness;alienation;isolation and empty disappointment with the modern life.

Like many today and yesterday Krapp made a decision in his 30s with the promise , at the very least , come success or failure , a life of satisfaction will be lived.

The 69 year old Krapp listening the the pompous outpourings of his younger self is thoroughly disgusted with himself on the route to "happiness" he embarked upon.

It is interesting many 40 ; 50 and 60-somethings who "choose" freedom and career instead of a balance between Family based relationship are feeling the same way today , and thats those who have still got a pension that may pay the pay to look forward to , yet alone those who will still be needed to be in full time employment into their late 60s to get a decent retirement income.
