KRAPPS LAST STAND by SAMUEL BECKETT at the CITIZENS THEATRE GLASGOW

This classic minimalist play has all the Beckett themes of loneliness;alienation;isolation and empty disappointment with the modern life.

Like many today and yesterday Krapp made a decision in his 30s with the promise , at the very least , come success or failure , a life of satisfaction will be lived.

The 69 year old Krapp listening the the pompous outpourings of his younger self is thoroughly disgusted with himself on the route to "happiness" he embarked upon.

It is interesting many 40 ; 50 and 60-somethings who "choose" freedom and career instead of a balance between Family based relationship are feeling the same way today , and thats those who have still got a pension that may pay the pay to look forward to , yet alone those who will still be needed to be in full time employment into their late 60s to get a decent retirement income.
